Nielsen Thailand reported that total ad spending in October was 5.61 billion baht, compared with 10.2 billion baht a year earlier. For print media, ad spending fell by 38.1% for magazines and 26.5% for newspapers. Internet ad spending saw a 10.4% decline despite strong growth in the first nine months of the year. But outdoor media saw ad spending rise by 35.2% as many companies used billboards to express their condolences across Bangkok. The sluggish economy and weak consumer consumption were considered major factors contributing to the ad spending drop, analysts said.
